Investigations on Additively Manufactured Stainless Bearings

چکیده
Additive manufacturing with multi-material design offers great possibilities for lightweight and function-integrated components. A process chain was developed in which hybrid steel–steel-components high fatigue strength were produced. For this, a material combination of stainless powder Rockit® (0.52 wt.% C, 0.9% Si, 14% Cr, 0.4% Mo, 1.8% Ni, 1.2% V, bal. Fe) cladded onto ASTM A572 mild steel by plasma arc deposition welding investigated. Extensive characterization has shown that defect-free claddings can be produced carefully adjusting the process. With tailored heat treatment strategy machining semi-finished products, bearing washers thrust cylindrical roller These showed longer life than previously AISI 52100 as cladding. It also remarkable service cladding conventional monolithic washers. This reached through favourable microstructure finely distributed vanadium chromium carbides martensitic matrix well presence compressive residual stresses, are largely retained even after testing. The potential further enhancement performance Tailored Forming investigated compression forging tests found to limited due low forming capacity material.

Additively manufactured hierarchical stainless steels with high strength and ductility.
Many traditional approaches for strengthening steels typically come at the expense of useful ductility, a dilemma known as strength-ductility trade-off. New metallurgical processing might offer the possibility of overcoming this. Here we report that austenitic 316L stainless steels additively manufactured via a laser powder-bed-fusion technique exhibit a combination of yield strength and tensil...
متن کاملAdditively manufactured medical products – the FDA perspective
Additive manufacturing/3D printing of medical devices is becoming more commonplace, a 3D printed drug is now commercially available, and bioprinting is poised to transition from laboratory to market. Despite the variety of technologies enabling these products, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is charged with protecting and promoting the public health by ensuring these products are safe...

Telemedicine focuses on improving the quality of health care, particularly in out-of-hospital settings. One of the most important applications is the continuous remote monitoring of vital parameters. Long-term monitoring of biopotentials requires skin-electrodes. State-of-the-art electrodes such as Ag/AgCl wet electrodes lead, especially during long-term application, to complications, e.g., ski...

Severe bone atrophy jeopardizes the success of endosseous implants. This technical note aims to present the innovative concept of additively manufactured sub-periosteal jaw implants (AMSJIs). Digital datasets of the patient's jaws and wax trial in occlusion are used to segment the bone and dental arches, for the design of a sub-periosteal frame and abutments in the optimal location related to t...
متن کاملAdditively Manufactured Porous Biomaterials and Implants
Recent advances in additive manufacturing (AM) techniques (otherwise known as 3D printing) have enabled fabrication of a new class of porous biomaterials (Figure 1) with arbitrarily complex and precisely controlled topologies that e.g. resemble the geometry and micro-architecture of (trabecular) bone. Since the geometry of scaffolds and biomaterials is an important factor in bone tissue regener...
